Jan Forschner - Class of 2017
Meet Jan, who left us in 2017 with an exceptional IB score of 43 points. He was also House Captain and participated in many other school activities, including the Yearbook Committee and the International Award.
He went on to study at the University of St Andrews, where he completed an integrated Master’s degree in Mathematics with first-class honours in 2022. He excelled academically over the 5 years, making Dean’s List every year, winning the Class Medal for statistics and serving as the School Representative for Applied Mathematics. His passion for numbers was matched by a love for problem-solving and leadership both inside and outside the classroom.
Since graduating, Jan has taken his expertise in mathematics and statistics into the world of finance and consulting with an internship with Deloitte.
He then started his full time career as an Associate in the Financial Services Governance, Risk & Compliance team at PwC Germany. His work sees him support multinational banks in implementing and developing risk management and stress testing processes to ensure their business models remain robust to adverse scenarios and macroeconomic challenges. Now, as Senior Associate, he continues to tackle new challenges head-on.
Looking back on his time at Haut-Lac, Jan fondly remembers the family-like atmosphere and many great extra-curricular activities that made his time there very enjoyable. He is still in touch with some of his classmates from over 7 years ago and enjoys catching up and talking about the “good old times”.
When asked for advice for current students, Jan encourages embracing every opportunity. “Whether it’s an internship, a group project, or a role in a student society, put yourself out there and see where it takes you. You’ll be surprised how much it shapes your future.”
