Shauna Dubler - Class of 2016 (2001 – 2016)
Shauna Dubler graduated from Haut-Lac with the Class of 2016 and went on to study for a BSc in Politics and International Relations at the University of Bath. While at university, she continued many of the passions she’d developed at school, playing an active role in the university football association and serving as a Welfare and Inclusion Representative.
As part of her degree, Shauna spent a year in industry as a Policy Intern at the American Chamber of Commerce to the EU in Brussels. Working at the heart of European politics during the final stages of the Brexit negotiations and the development of the EU’s long-term climate strategy was both challenging and inspiring. Her work focused on climate, transport, and energy policy, and she regularly attended high-level roundtables where businesses and the European Commission negotiated and debated, line by line, elements of the EU’s Net Zero framework. It was during this time that Shauna’s lasting interest in energy and climate policy began to take shape.

After completing her degree in the summer of 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Shauna decided to pursue a ‘panic masters’, an MSc in Political Science at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her studies focused on environmental governance, climate change, and sustainability, deepening her understanding of the complex policy and regulatory frameworks shaping global energy transitions. She also volunteered her time working as a researcher for Follow This, a shareholder action campaign group seeking climate commitments from major fossil fuel companies.
Following her masters, Shauna moved to London to begin her professional career as a political consultant. In this role, she advised a diverse range of clients across fast-moving consumer goods, technology, transport, and energy sectors, helping them to navigate the fast-paced world of UK politics. Over time, her growing focus on sustainability and energy policy led her to join Energy UK, the trade association for the energy industry, as Public Affairs Manager.
At Energy UK, Shauna works across the full energy value chain, from generation to supply, leading campaigns on affordability, contributing to legislative development, and engaging closely with ministers, parliamentarians, and key stakeholders on reforms to strengthen the UK’s energy system. Her work focuses on ensuring that the transition to clean energy delivers benefits for both consumers and industry alike. Most recently, Shauna has launched and led Energy UK’s #BringDownBills campaign, which calls on the Government to act urgently ahead of winter to support vulnerable households struggling to pay their energy bills.
Through her work, Shauna continues to play an active role in shaping the UK’s energy policy debate, advocating for practical, people-focused solutions that help deliver cleaner, cheaper, and more secure energy for all.
The strongest asset that Shauna feels she took away from school was a sense of continuous inquisitiveness – the confidence to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and seek deeper understanding. This curiosity has often driven productive and important debate, encouraging those around her to think critically and engage thoughtfully with new ideas.
