Jaume Aranols - Class of 2017
We’re proud to recognise Jaume as our Alumni of the Month - a true example of how curiosity, global-mindedness and dedication can drive real-world impact.
Jaume graduated from Haut-Lac with an outstanding 42/45 in the IB Diploma, and he embraced every opportunity during his school years. He served as House Captain, Secretary General for Model United Nations, and a member of the 1st Senior Boys Football Team, alongside active participation in athletics and tennis. His time at Haut-Lac nurtured the leadership, teamwork and communication skills that would later define his career.
Jaume pursued a Master of Engineering (MEng, Hons) in Chemical Engineering at the University of Bath, achieving First-Class Honours. While at university, he served as an Academic Representative and Peer Mentor, worked on curriculum transformation initiatives, and explored extra-curricular passions as Social Secretary for the Salsa Society.

His professional journey began with an internship at IMD Business School’s World Competitiveness Center in Lausanne, where he contributed to research on Smart City development for the IMD Smart City Index 2019. He then joined Nestlé as an ESG – Packaging Sustainability Intern.
In 2021, upon graduating from university, Jaume transitioned into industry at Enval Ltd., a recycling start-up pioneering microwave-induced pyrolysis to recover aluminium and oil from plastic-aluminium laminates.
In 2022, Jaume joined the aspirational firm Arup, a global leader in sustainable engineering and design. As an Energy Engineer, he works on projects that help deliver innovative, low-carbon energy solutions across the UK. He focuses on energy modelling and conducting building decarbonisation design for clients to support them on their journey toward net-zero, with projects spanning buildings, campuses and large infrastructure developments. In his spare time, he organises Salsa sessions for his coworkers, plays guitar and is absolutely in love with cycling and endurance sports.
Reflecting on his path, Jaume says, “The process of getting here has been incredibly iteractive and rewarding; my time at Haut-Lac couldn’t have been better, and no single anecdote can do justice to that. However, the view that we had of Lake Geneva will definitely never get old! Haut-Lac built my work ethic and taught me how to lead with empathy, think critically, and approach challenges collaboratively - values that continue to guide my work today.”
